Mad Decent’s Brazillian trio Bonde Do Role have digged deep into their archives and put together a nice little package titled With Blazers, which includes demos and b-sides from their 07 LP With Lasers. The compilation is a sweet treat for all BDR fans. Download it HERE and check out some of the track-by-track comments from BDR below:
TRACK-BY-TRACK COMMENTS
Sobe o Som (prod by Bonde do Role): Originally on “Baterias do Poder”, we took it out last minute ‘cos we thought it could go nicely on the record – but being basically one big sample, we had to take it out. Vocals by Pedro and Thais (Pedro’s ex gf).
Bicha Velha (prod by Diplo/Bonde do Role) • Brazilian Wax (prod by Diplo/Bonde do Role) • Jerky Beef (prod by DJ Chernobyl/Diplo/Bonde do Role): These 3 are the first original songs we did right after “Baterias do Poder” (our first and only concept record so far), we spent about 5 days in Rio working with Diplo and right after these sessions he realized that we had the humour of 13 year olds learning what “queefing” was, so he made us promise not to sing anything stupid in english, just portuguese!
Solta o Frango demo in english (prod by Diplo/Bonde do Role): Back in the day we had the ambition to sing in english, but we just were not ready yet, as you can hear in this incredibly farfetched version.
Divine Gosa demo (prod by Radioclit/Bonde do Role): Recorded in London in 2006, on the extra days Gorky and Pedro stayed there to work with Radioclit. As proved by this demo, you can never trust song credits.
Geremia original mix (prod by DJ Chernobyl/Bonde do Role): It was almost going out of the record when we re-did this, now it’s one of our favorites from this period!
Melo da Devassa (prod by Egg Foo Young/Bonde do Role): We wrote this originally to play at our first gig, but we didn’t have the beat back then – same case as Geremia – it was reworked and got on the record completely different, with different chorus, etc.
Office Boy – vr Paulo Ricardo (prod by DJ Chernobyl/Bonde do Role): Gorky never liked the track because of the cheesy chorus (originally intented to have Paulo Ricardo featured), but at the very LAST minute, when we were about to dump the track, Pedro came up with the new chorus and voila!
